Jurjev-Dorpat-Tartu
Tartu – the thousand-year-old town was first documented in 1030 in the time of Yaroslav the Wise, Prince of Kiev. A guided walking tour will take you to Tartu city centre and inform you about the origins of the town and things of historical interest (e.g. you will get to know why the town has been known under three different names: Jurjev, Dorpat and Tartu). You will visit St John’s church (from 14th century) and the Tartu Citizen’s Home Museum. After that you will be guided to St Anthony’s Guild, the house of artists and craftsmen, where you have the opportunity to participate in one workshop. After the workshop you will have square meal in the cosy guildhall.

A Walk Around The Old Town Of Tartu
Our honourable guests will be welcomed by a St. Anthony’s Court guide, dressed in medieval fashion. From the court we proceed right into St. John’s Church, which is unique in Northern Europe for its terracotta sculptures. You will learn about the history of St. John’s Church.
From the church the tour goes on to Tartu Toy Museum, which displays a collection that is unique in Europe. We move on to St. Anthony’s Guild, where our guide introduces the shops of master craftsmen and artists and talks about the history of Tartu Little Guild. The masters of St. Anthony’s Guild demonstrate to the curious, how the products are made and you may buy some local handicraft products for yourself or as a present.

19th Century Tsarist University Town Tartu
We start from the Town Museum, where the history of Tartu will be explained in a nutshell and you can inspect the dwellings of a Tsarist Russia high-ranking officer of noble birth. We go on over the pedestrian bridge – when you will hear the story of the Stone Bridge – to Town Hall Square. From there the itinerary continues to Tartu University main building – you will hear about the building’s history – then to St. John’s Church. Next stop is the Tartu Citizen's Home Museum and the tour finishes at St. Anthony’s Court, where you will get familiar with the story of the St Anthony's Guild and its nowadays masters.
